We would like to invite you to a lecture with Dr. Charlotte Webb (UK) speaking about her project Feminist Internet.

The internet holds huge potential for liberation and political transformation. However many of society’s inequalities are encoded in its structures, processes and communities. The Feminist Internet is a group of artists and designers on a mission to advance internet equalities for women and other marginalised groups through creative, critical practice. Internet equalities mean equal rights to freedom of expression, privacy, data protection and internet access regardless of race, class, gender, gender identity, age, belief or ability. In this talk, Dr. Charlotte Webb, ‘Chief Leopard’ of the feminist internet will talk about how this group has been tackling issues of gender inequality and the internet, through imagining the nipples of tomorrow, tackling the virus of capitalist desire, and prototyping feminist alternatives to Alexa.

Light refreshments will be served!

Dr. Charlotte Webb

This talk is presented by York’s Department of Design and the Institute for Research on Digital Learning (IRDL).
